MONO JAPAN – Japanese Craft & Design is a celebration of Japanese crafts, design and food culture. MONO JAPAN is a fair and a cultural event in one welcoming businesses and general audience alike.
MONO JAPAN offers a stage to acclaimed masters of traditional practices and the new generation of ambitious and enthusiastic creators who fly in from Japan to personally present their work in the Netherlands. MONO JAPAN exhibitors offer products ranging from pottery, washi (paper), textile, clothing and furniture to teas and sakes. Event program of MONO JAPAN includes daily lectures by artists and experts, and various hands-on workshops led by the makers.
On the 1st weekend of February 2016 the inaugural edition of MONO JAPAN took place. Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy served as a home for the MONO JAPAN participants, their work and families, facilitating a level of cultural exchange unimaginable in any other exhibition set up. With show-rooms spread across its floors, hotel guests, MONO JAPAN exhibitors and visitors were temporarily immersed in a world where cultural differences were bridged by shared appreciation of high quality artisanal tradition, innovation and contemporary design thinking.
With nearly 5000 visitors, new business contacts and good sales reports for exhibitors, lots of positive feedback from the audience and press alike (including the posts on the international portals like Elledecor.it and Wallpaper.com) the first edition of MONO JAPAN can be considered a success.
The preparations for the second edition of MONO JAPAN scheduled to take place on February 2-5 2017 have already started. The fruitful alliance between JCE and Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy will continue also in 2017. With inspiration and experiences of first edition MONO JAPAN team is looking forward to maintaining successful partnerships and welcoming new exhibitors and collaborations.
